I started my career with ePresence Inc. building Web applications for clients such as AT&T, Valley National Bank, and Cingular Wireless. Banyan acquired ePresence and rebranded as an Identity & Access Management (IAM) services firm which was eventually acquired by Unisys. I managed IAM implementation projects for Nextel, ADP, Tyco International, and Genworth Financial, among others. After Unisys, I held technical, consulting, marketing, and product management roles in IAM and Information Security for companies such as MaXware (now SAP), RSA, NetVision, and STEALTHbits Technologies. In 2011, SYS-CON Media honored me as one of the Most Powerful Voices in Information Security. And in 2014, Digital Media added my blog to their list of the top 50 Information Security blogs. I now have an internally-facing role at Oracle providing research and analysis on Database Security and Identity & Access Management.
Maybe it was growing up in the shadow of New York City, but as an adult I've always been drawn to nature. I now live on the outskirts of a state forest in the Cumberland Valley (Pennsylvania) with my wife of over 15 years and our two daughters. I'm a fan of music (especially the kind that highlights individual instruments and the human talent behind them) and I dabble in playing guitar and blues harmonica. Other interests include photography, writing, and of course, technology.
